Festival Country (INDIANA)

The passionate folks from Festival Country, Indiana, purchased 100,000 eclipse glasses for their big solar eclipse celebration.

On April 8th, 2024, one of the largest events in Festival Country came to town! The largest sky event in history, the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse.

Festival Country Indiana, located just south of Indianapolis, was smack dab in the middle of the path of totality. In Festival Country, they got more than two and a half hours of the eclipse, including nearly four minutes of totality. As you can see, all the hard work for this epic bash paid off! *Pics from Festival County, Indiana.

Big Crowds for Big Eclipse!

he out-of-sync darkness lasted up to 4 minutes, 28 seconds. That's almost twice as long as it was during the U.S. coast-to-coast eclipse seven years ago because the moon is closer to Earth. It will be another 21 years before the U.S. sees another total solar eclipse on this scale.

The path of totality — approximately 115 miles wide — encompassed several major cities this time, including Dallas; Indianapolis; Cleveland; Buffalo, New York; and Montreal.

An estimated 44 million people live within the track, with a couple hundred million more within 200 miles. Add in all the eclipse chasers, amateur astronomers, scientists and just plain curious, and it’s no wonder the hotels and flights sold out and the roads jammed.
